Weapons of war have no place on the streets of America. At first blush this seems like a non-controversial statement, who wants to live in a war zone? Yet turn on the TV or listen to a politician, and you will be assured that Americans would be in armed revolt at any attempt to stop the proliferation of killing machines in the hands of those who desire them, and thus nothing can be done to stop the bloodshed. If that were true, it would be yet another tragedy amidst the storm of violence and death sweeping through the towns and cities of America. But of course, despite what we are told, most Americans aren't so different from Australians or New Zealanders, both of whom willingly gave up their assault weapons to prevent further destruction and terror in their schools, places of worship and public places in general.

The American people, by a nearly 2:1 margin want weapons of war off their streets. The removal of assault weapons, won't prevent every shooting, or save every life, but since assault weapons are designed to make it easy to kill many people quickly, their presence or absence during a right-wing terror attack can mean the difference between life and death for many.
The pit we have dug ourselves as a country is too deep for any one intervention to stop this mass violence, but first we must stop digging. We must say that the lives of our citizens, and especially our children are worth more than the right for a small minority to own weapons of war. Our corrupt politicians prevent any restrictions on gun ownership, and prevent any liability coming back to them when tragedy strikes. They've decided money and power are worth dead children in schools and dead people in the streets. We will not forget, or forgive what has happened, and we must make them regret such a devil's bargain.
Let your representatives know that you we cannot allow one more mass shooting in America, they must act to represent us and pass common sense gun laws! Contact info can be found at: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
