Not Doing Anything is Also A Choice/ Albeit a Terrible One...

For over two years now, DSOT has pointed out time and again that our society must change, and that in countless ways the people want that change desperately. The problem with such profound and systemic change is that those in power resist it, and the people at large don't believe it is possible.

Now everything is different. The global pandemic caused by Covid-19 has dashed all illusions that change, even big change isn't possible. We've seen in real time over the past year how ways of life have been ruptured and social norms once thought immutable have evaporated in the face of necessity. This demonstration has only increased the desire in America and abroad for something new to grow out of the world changing event:

I want the world to change significantly and become more sustainable and equitable rather than returning to how it was before the COVID-19 crisis.

Agree Global: 86%

Agree America: 79%

As much tragedy and hardship has befallen us in 2020, it has also provided the clarity for people around the globe to see how terribly wrong this system is, and to demand a new a better future. As we rebuild from the ruin of 2020 we must make sure that we take advantage of this unique opportunity. Our politicians should not be allowed to ignore this deep and overwhelming demand by the people.

Rest assured, however, that unless we continue to grow our voices and power, and advocate for our goals and policies clearly, that is exactly what they will do. We must organize every Tuesday in growing solidarity as we fight the powers of division and oligarchs who threaten to undermine our democracy and make sure the new government listens to the people. Let's make 2021 the year when the people took back their government and made a new world, more just and equitable than the one before Covid-19!

Don't Shop on Tuesdays!
